13 June 2018 - Leswalt

We awoke to a lovely morning.  I was wished a happy birthday and given presents and cards.

I cooked eggs for breakfast.  Boiled for the YCM and scrambled on toast for us.  

After a gentle start the weather started to deteriorate slightly, getting a little windy. We decided to aim for a beach and set off to near Black Head lighthouse.  

The tide was still coming in and there was no beach yet.  We took a walk over the headland along the Southern Uplands Way.  We retraced our steps back to the car and had a snack and thought we would try Lady Bay ant the other end of the peninsula.  

We had sandwiches for lunch then went to investigate.  Here was a beach, so MLW and the YCM had a paddle and a splash.

After the shoes and socks were back on we watched the ferries, one in and one out.  There were warnings on the beach that the ferries caused abnormally large waves for up to 30 minutes after passing. We waited and watched and saw a huge difference in. The waves.  Very interesting.

Back in the car, we set off we nowhere in particular to go and ended up heading for Stranraer.  The YCM said she’d like to visit the play park that she’d seen the previous day on the way through,so that’s what we did.  MLW and the YCM went to play whilst I found a barbers and had my hair cut.

I rejoined them in the park, played a bit then we went to the nearby café.

More playing ensued then it was time to shower and change so that we could go out for my birthday dinner.

We went to Portpatrick and ate in one of the pubs.  The food was very nice. The YCM and I had fish and chips and MLW had a chicken curry.

With the weather deteriorating steadily throughout the day, we arrived back to the campsite to the start of Storm Hector.

We get ready for bed and are reading stories when the YCM announces that she is scared. I try to placate her but she’s not having it and insists on MLW taking her out for a walk. (Which is where they currently are, leaving me alone and scared in the tent.)

Well this will be an interesting night.  I’m not sure we’ll have much sleep.  One thing I’m sure of is that I’m not going up to the top field to post this blog so it will have to wait.
